Sifl and Olly Lets Bring Back the Socks

Sifl and Olly was a comedy show on MTV originating in 1997 and was cancelled in 1999. The shows creators are Liam Lynch and Matt Crocco, who were childhood friends , and performed on the show. It revolved around the adventures of two sock puppets Sifl was always on the left and Olly always on the right. The show was very silly , somewhat mindless and little off-color at times. It was also very funny and addicting. They would have regular visits from Chester also a sock puppet who was not so smart and usually got things mixed up and Sifl and Olly would make fun of him. They had regular segments each episode.

Precious Roy's Home Shopping Network

This was a regular segment ,a take on shopping networks with bizarre items such as: magic dirt, pregnancy rope, pirate cripplers, chicken flavored air conditioning, squirrel zapper. Magic dirt was one of my personal favorites. Olly would always get way too excited yelling for you to buy the product and Precious Roy would come on at the end and call everybody "suckers".

Calls From the Public

Sifl and Olly would take calls from everything their landlord to Jargon Scott selling "legless dogs".

Interview Time

This segment would have guests including the sun, death, they would always have trouble, the guest they wanted wouldn't show up or they didn't have enough money to get anyone.

A Word with Chester

One time during the show, they would interview Chester for a few minutes. Topics included Chester chasing the ice cream truck because he liked the music, he didn't realize they had ice cream too. He talks about attracting woman and sometimes he sang.

S and O News

Sifl and Olly would be in a newsroom, Sifl usually had glasses taped on with duct tape. They would mostly argue ending up with Sifl's obsession with MTV's Serena Altschul.

Always something that made no sense and the answer was almost always Bjork.

Sifl and Olly would perform a song like a music video. One of my favorites was Dudes House and the Llama School.

Its Almost the End of the Show

A little segment letting you know it was almost over.

The first season was 1/2 hour segments, the second season it went to an hour and music videos were interlaced from real performers. The third season was recorded but never released. It is available now on DVD but it is expensive and hard to find. My daughter and I loved this show. Yes it was silly and a little off color but I still laugh when I think about some of the segments. "Legless dogs, make great throw pillows, and interesting hat, great with kids, they never run away". I would like to help move MTV into releasing the first two seasons on DVD. My ultimate dream is for them to renew the show. It worked for Family Guy. It can't hurt to try here. Below is a link to sign a petition to release the first seasons on DVD. Please sign it.
